第41集 絲瓜 (Sponge Cucumber)

1. Today I’m standing next to a trellis and we’ll be looking at sponge cucumber or loofah.

   今天我站在一個棚架旁邊,我們將要看的是絲瓜。

2. One common use of sponge cucumber or loofah is consumption, eating, or household sponges.

   絲瓜常見的一個用途是食用或是當成家用的菜瓜布。

3. In order to make a sponge, they take the entire sponge cucumber and dry it out.

   為了製作一個菜瓜布,他們取用整條的絲瓜,並且讓它變乾。

4. After it’s dried out, they peel the skin off it and what’s leftover is very sponge-like material.

   在它變乾後,他們將它的皮剝掉,而留下來的東西,是一種非常像海綿的材質。

5. They use it for washing dishes and cleaning.

   他們使用它來清洗碗盤或清洗東西。

6. It’s very common to see people in the countryside growing loofah or sponge cucumbers.

   在鄉間經常看到人們種植絲瓜。

第42集 斗笠 (Bamboo Hat)

1. This is a bamboo hat.

   這是一頂斗笠。

2. The basic function is to provide shade while being outside in the sun.

   它的基本作用是提供遮蔭,當你在戶外的太陽底下時。

3. It’s very common to see farmers in the countryside wearing this hat while working outside.

   在鄉村經常看到農夫在外面工作時戴這種帽子。

4. And they look something like this.

   他們戴起來像是這個樣子。


第43集 遙控器 (Remote Control) 

1. This is a remote or also known as a remote control. Why?

   這是一個遙控器。為什麼它被稱為遙控器呢?

2. Because it allows you to control something remotely or away from it.

   因為它可以讓你在遠處或和它有點距離的地方控制某些東西。

3. Remotes are very common in households, whether they be for TV’s, DVD players or even air conditioners.

   遙控器在家庭中非常普遍,不管是電視或是DVD播放器,或甚至是冷氣的遙控器。

4. Some people even have remotes for their stereos in their cars.

   有些人甚至還有操控他們車內音響的遙控器。

第44集 衛生紙 (Tissue Paper)

1. Tissue paper is a staple in every household. 

   衛生紙是每個家庭裡的日常必需用品。 

2. We have two types here. 

   我這裡有兩種類型。 

3. Regular tissue and bathroom tissue. 

   ㄧ般的衛生紙和廁所用的衛生紙。 

4. Basic uses of tissue: blowing your nose, cleaning something up, even you going to the bathroom. 

   衛生紙的基本用途有:擤鼻涕、清理東西、甚至你去上廁所的時候。 

5. The action is simply, basically pulling a tissue. 

   操作很簡單,基本上只要抽起一張衛生紙。 

6. The new style is much easier to pull. 

   新款式的容易抽取多了。 

7. The old style is much more difficult to get a hold of one. 

   舊款的要拿出一張就困難多了。 

第45集 轉接器 (Adapter)

1. This is an adapter for charging a smartphone.

   這是智慧型手機的充電轉接器。

2. This is the plug-in aspect of it.

   這是插電的部分。

3. There’s two plugs.

   有兩個插角。

4. They plug into the wall or the outlet.

   他們插入牆壁上的插座或電源插座。

5. On the reverse side is a USB plug-in.

   另外一面是USB電源插座的地方。

6. Here is a USB plug.

   這裡有一個USB的插頭。

7. Plug it into here.

   把它插入這裡。

8. Plug it into the wall.

   再插入牆上的插座。

9. This wire is held together by Velcro so it keeps it all nice and neat.

   這條電線用魔鬼氈固定起來,所以可以把它收的很整齊。

第46集 鑰匙圈 (Keychain) 

1. This is a key chain.

   這是一個鑰匙圈。

2. Most basic function is to hold keys and hold them at one place so you don’t lose them.

   最基本的功能是扣住鑰匙,把它們扣在同一個地方,這樣你才不會把它們弄丟。

3. Key chains can often be given as a gift being they’re cheap.

   因為鑰匙圈很便宜,它們經常被拿來當作禮物贈送。

4. There are different kinds of key chains and also,sometimes there are remotes on  the key chain.

   有不同種類的鑰匙圈,而且,有時候遙控器也會掛在鑰匙圈上面。

5. This remote is for a house security door or garage door.

   這個遙控器是用來開房子的安全門或是車庫的門。

第47集 橡皮筋 (Rubber Band) 

1. A very common thing to be seen are rubber bands. 

   橡皮筋是很常見的東西。 

2. This rubber band is a red one. 

   這條橡皮筋是紅色的。 

3. A very common function for rubber bands is to keep things held together. 

   橡皮筋有一個很常見的功能,是把東西固定在一起。 

4. In Taiwan, such as lunch boxes and many other like fast foods. 

   在台灣像是便當盒以及很多其它的東西,像是速食。 

5. Many children also use these to play games. 

   很多小朋友也會用橡皮筋來玩遊戲。 

6. They fling or shoot them. 

   他們彈或射橡皮筋。 

7. Or they play folding games and they make certain objects like stars, balloons, and they have fun with them. 

   或者他們會玩摺橡皮筋的遊戲,他們會做出某些形狀,像是星星、氣球,他們用橡皮筋玩得很愉快。 

8. Rubber bands are very useful. 

   橡皮筋非常實用。 

第48集 薄荷油精 (Menthol)

1. Hi there.

   嗨!

2. I’m here today to show you a nifty little thing I found in Taiwan.

   我今天在這裡給你們看一個我在臺灣發現的很棒的小東西。

3. Menthol, or also know as Mentholatum comes in many different forms  but this one happens to be in a bottle.

   薄荷精油或曼秀雷敦,有很多不同的樣式,但這個剛好是裝在一個瓶子裡。

4. Menthol has many purposes, bug bites, minor skin irritations and so  forth.

   薄荷精油有很多用途,蟲子咬傷、輕微皮膚過敏等等。

5. This one is meant for sleep and what you do is put the bottle with a roller, you rub it on your temple when you feel sleepy.

   這瓶是用來針對昏睡的,而你要做的是把有滾輪的瓶子,當你感到昏昏欲 睡時,把它塗抹在你的太陽穴。

6. And the Mentholatum will evaporate and it vapors make you feel awake. 

   薄荷精油會揮發,而他揮發的氣體會讓你清醒。

第49集 立可白(修正液) (White-out)

1. Hi, there.

   嗨! 

2. Today we’re gonna talk about correction tape and white out, white-out liquid. 

   今天我們要來討論修正帶和立可白、立可白修正液。 

3. Whenever you are writing something, whether it be homework, a test and on a document  and you make a mistake, instead of erasing it or if you are using pen, you can’t erase it,  you simply use correction tape.

   每當你在寫些東西時,不論是作業、考試還是一份文件上面, 你寫錯了,不是把它擦掉,或是如果你使用鋼筆你不能擦掉它,你只要用修正帶。 

4. Correction tape is basically tape like white-out. 

   基本上修正帶是功能像修正液的帶子。 

5. You put the white-out tape over your correction and it becomes white again and you can rewrite.

   你把修正帶覆蓋在你要修正的地方,它又會變成白色的,你就可以再重寫一次了。

6. Or a little older method is using white-out liquid. 

   或是,比較老的方法是使用修正液。 

7. White-out liquid, you shake it up, break it up, and you merely dab it. 

   修正液,你搖一搖使它均勻,你只要輕輕的塗抹它。 

8. And there’s a little ball bearing that depresses and white-out liquid comes out. 

   然後有一個小滾珠,壓下後修正液就會流出來。 

9. This one, you have to wait to dry. 

   這種你必須等它乾掉。


第50集 走廊 (Hallway)

1. Today we are standing in a school hallway. 

   今天我們站在一所學校的走廊上。 

2. As we can see, it’s clear right now. 

   如我們所見,現在走廊上空無一人。 

3. But usually, running is not allowed in the school hallway 

   但通常在學校的走廊上不准奔跑。 

4. Due to the fact, if somebody comes walking out of the door, they might get hit. 

   基於這個事實,如果有人從門口走出來,他們可能會被撞到。 

5. Sometimes people like to liven up the hallway, so they put potted plants in front of their windows. 

   有時候人們喜歡使走廊更有生氣,所以他們會擺放盆栽在他們的窗前。 

6. Over here we have a railing. 

   這裡我們有一座欄杆。 

7. The railing is there to prevent people from falling over the edge. 

   欄杆在那裡是為了避免人們從邊緣掉下去。
