Book 12 (111-120)

第111集 筆記型電腦 (Laptop Computer)

第112集 滑鼠 (Mouse)

第112集 滑鼠 (Mouse)

Most people when they use a laptop computer, used the touchpad to navigate with it. I don’t like the touchpad, I like a mouse. This is a mouse, you put your hand on it and when you move the mouse, it moves this black arrow. The black arrow was called a cursor. When you want to go to a site and I’m going to go to Youtube, you take the mouse and you move the cursor till it’s on Youtube. There’s two sides of the mouse, left side, right side. The cursor’s on Youtube, I’m going to click on Youtube. That means push the left side one time. I just click on that, Youtube comes up. Now, also on the mouse, there’s a little thing looks like a roller. It scrolls up and scrolls down. If you turn the roller, the page will go up and it’s called navigating. You’re on the page you want, you can now scroll up or scroll down. With the roller. Also if you take the cursor and push it on this, and push the left click button down, and bring the mouse down, it will pull this down, and it will scroll also. The wheel’s easier. It lets you be a little more accurate with what you’re doing. If you want to get the whole page out of the way then you would click on this bar and just move the whole thing down. But for just the little movement, you would scroll up or down with that now. If there’s something here that you want to look at, you would put the mouse on it. This one says dish now. Left click one turn and that comes up, it’s a classroom.

第113集 小隔間 (Cubicle)

第113集 小隔間 (Cubicle)

This is the main office for the school. Teachers have their cubicles and desks here. This is a cubicle. The cubicle. They would have their computer here, the school’s computer where they keep their information. Some of their books, their scheduling is done from here. When they’re not teaching at class, they can be here working on grading papers or laying out more information for the class. This one is a little larger. Those there may be a little smaller. Each teacher again will have their own private cubicle for their things.

第114集 消防栓 (Fire Hydrant)

第114集 消防栓 (Fire Hydrant)

At different spots around the school you’ll found these. It says hydrant. It’s for fire protection and I’ll bet you in case of a fire, that’s flashing off and on and there’s a lot of noise coming out of this. If you want to make the alarm go off, break the glass, push the button. If you open the door and look inside, you have a nozzle. That’s adjustable. Two pieces of hose. This one already has a nozzle on it and a valve. You put your hose here, pull the hose out so it’s not kinked. Put the nozzle on and turn the valve on. You will get water, a lot of it. When you’re done, close the valve,  take the hose off and I’m sure they would take this out, drain it and dry it before they put it back in here. You don’t want these staying wet. They rot. But again, nozzle, two pieces of hose and the valve and a lot of water.

第115集 中文字 (Chinese Characters)

第115集 中文字 (Chinese Characters)

These students are in the classroom learning to write Chinese characters. The teacher’s showing students the strokes and the order in which you do the strokes to write this character. There’re 17 strokes to make this character and they have to be done in the right order. And this is not a really complicated character. There are characters that have a lot more strokes than this.

There is a lot of information that you can get just by looking at this. These are longitude and latitude lines, this big blue line is the equator.

第118集 投影機 (Projector)

第118集 投影機 (Projector)

Hello, I’d like to talk to you about a piece of equipment that is really common and used a lot in classrooms. It’s called the projector. This is a projector, this unit here sets on the table and it puts a picture on the screen on the wall. Projectors are used in classrooms because you can show information to the class in a big picture that they can see clearly and easily. It’s great for showing information. What all you need to do this with? This is a projector. That’s the screen. This is called the computer jack. You will plug this into your computer, and then you’ll have the information available on the projector to display on the screen. Really wonderful piece of equipment.

第119集 雷射筆 (Laser Pointer)

第119集 雷射筆 (Laser Pointer)

What I’m holding in my hand is a laser pointer. What is it used for? If you’re giving a presentation as I am, on the wall I have a map of the world and I want to make you look at U.S, I push a button on the laser pointer. It puts a red dot on the U.S. That helps emphasize what I’m talking about. If I want to talk about another country, say South America, I can put the red dot on it, and say I’m talking about Brazil and it’s right there where the red dot is. It helps you draw attention to something during a presentation. Also, it has other functions you can turn a page with it .If there’s more than one page on your presentation, you can page up or page down with the laser pointer.

第120集 感謝狀 (Certificate of Recognition)

第120集 感謝狀 (Certificate of Recognition)

This is a certificate of recognition. This certificate of recognition comes in a very nice frame. Certificates of recognition are given to people who do good  deeds above their call. Often, on a certificate of recognition, there will be the institution’s name, the recipient of the award, and also an official stamp.
