第121集 撲克牌-1 (Playing Cards-Part 1)

Here I am holding a deck or a pack of cards. If we open this, we’ll have playing cards: a deck of them. I’m going to talk about the names of each. This one is an Ace. The suit is clubs. So we will say the Ace of clubs. The next one will be a King. As we can see the suit is also clubs. So we say King of clubs. The next one, the Q means queen. This one the suit is like a diamond so we’ll say the queen of diamonds. The next one will be Jack, J. The suit is spades, so we say the Jack of spades. The next one is in the shape of a heart. So what would we say? We say hearts. This is the nine of hearts. And the last one is the Joker.

第122集 撲克牌-2 (Playing Cards-Part 2)

We’re going to talk about some of the terminology that goes with playing cards. There are many games associated with playing cards. For example, Texas hold 'em, Poker and bridge, just to name a few. All of these games have one thing in common: they have players and a dealer. The dealer’s job is to shuffle the cards. They do this by using their hands to mix the cards up. After the cards have been shuffled, the dealer deals single cards out to each player. So the player can get a hand of cards. With their hand of cards, they proceed to play the game they want. 

第123集 捕夢網 (Dreamcatcher)

Dreamcatchers. Dreamcatchers originated with the native Americans. A dreamcatcher is a willow hoop with braided web in between. They also are decorated with beads and feathers. The purpose of a dreamcatcher is to be hung above or around a person’s bed or sleeping area. What does a dreamcatcher do? Dreamcatchers catch good dreams and bad dreams. The good dreams are caught in the web, and then filter down through the feathers into the sleeper. The bad dreams are caught in the web and stay there until morning light. With morning light, they disappear.

第124集 魔術方塊 (Rubik's Cube)

A Rubik’s cube is a three dimensional, six-sided combination puzzle. The purpose of a Rubik’s cube is to align matching colors on each of the six sides. The colors that we have here are white, green, yellow, orange, blue and red. Rubik’s cubes are very difficult but some people are very proficient and masters of the Rubik’s cube. With the Rubik’s cube, the actions are to flip it and spin it. Flip it and spin it, this is how you use a Rubik’s cube. A Rubik’s cube is a great mental game and a great way to kill time. 

第125集 皮夾 (Wallet)

It is very common to see man carrying wallets.

This here is a single-fold wallet. There are also double-fold wallets.The purpose of a wallet is to carry money, and also to put your cards. As we can see here, this one has credit cards, ID cards, and even a health card. Me personally, I carry a money clip.This is my money clip. I carry this because it is much thinner and easier to carry. On the back side, it’s a clip to slide your money into securely. On the face side are pockets to carry your cards.

第126集 穿夾克 (Putting on a Jacket)

Today we are going to put on our jackets. We start by putting your arm into the sleeve. Fling your jacket around, put your other arm into the other sleeve and fully put your hands out of the cuffs. Once your hands are out, work your way down to the zipper. Slide the one end of the zipper into the other end fully. Once it’s there, you can slowly work your way up, and zip up your jacket. Once it’s zipped up, go about doing your things. When you’re ready to unzip your jacket, merely slide the zipper down until it is fully out. And then remove your hand and arm from the one sleeve, remove your hand and arm from the other sleeve and, voila.

第127集 起床 (Getting Up)

Hello, I’d like to talk about what I would do when I get up in the morning, what probably most students or young children do when they get up in the morning. First thing is, I’d wake up then I’d set up, put my feet on the floor and I would not have my glasses on. I would probably rub my eyes. This helps get the sleep out, helps you wake up. Then I would stand up and I would walk into the bathroom.

First thing I would do in the bathroom is, if I had to, we say in America, go number one. That’s urinate, it’s the correct way to say it, or we would say, take a leak or go pee. I had to take a leak. I’d look at the commode where you sit. If you’re a boy, you’re going to lift the lid up. You will then take a leak or pee in the bowl, flush it. Push the lever or the bottom, flushing the commode and then put the lid back down. Then after doing that I would wash my face and brush my teeth.

First I would brush my teeth. To brush your teeth, you take a toothbrush, put some toothpaste on it and you brush up and down for one minute on the outside of your teeth, and then one minute on the inside. For me, when I’m done brushing my teeth I usually turn the brush over, brush the top of the inside of my mouth and my tongue. Then spit and rinse with a glass of water.

Now I’m going to wash my face, there will be a towel hanging on the rack. Take the towel,  turn the water on. You might want to adjust the water so it’s not too hot not too cold. Get the towel wet, get your face wet, put soap on the towel and vigorously scrub or wash your face. Put the towel under the water, rinse it out, wring it out, squeeze it so the water is out . Then get it wet again and rinse your face off, rinse off the towel, wring it out very good again, hang it up to dry, and I would also splash some water on my face. That’s for everyone here. At home, if you’re an adult and you are a man, the next thing you’re probably going to do when they don’t do that here is shave. I have to shave every morning. So after I’m done washing my face I would shave.

Shaving is simple. Put shaving cream on the face, take a razor and it cuts the whiskers off.

I would then be done with what I’m doing in the morning and I would go downstairs, and get ready for breakfast.

第128集 上廁所 (Going to the Bathroom)

In the America, if you need to go to the bathroom, and you are in a public place, say you are in school, in the classroom or you are eating with your family at the table and you need to go to the bathroom, you don’t want to say, “I need to go to the bathroom,” “I have to go take a seat down,” or “I have to go pee.” We were taught, if you have to take a pee, if you have to go urinate, you hold up your hand, one finger. This is number one. Number one means you have to go pee. If you hold up your hand, and hold up number two, two fingers, this means you have to go sit down. It was more polite than sitting at the table and say, “Hey everyone, I have to go take a seat down.” You just say, “I need to go to the bathroom,” and show them two fingers. They know. They know what you are going to do, but you didn’t have to say it.

第129集 著裝準備上學 (Getting Dressed for School)

We are going to get dressed to school. In America, students do not wear uniforms to schools. In public schools, kindergarten, grade school, junior high, high school, they don’t wear uniforms. There are some private schools where they do but it is not very common. So, you can wear T-shirt as long as it is a nice shirt, you can wear shirt like this, you can wear blue jeans, you can wear dress slacks. If it is summer time, you can wear shorts, you have to wear shoes and socks. No open-toed shoes. After that, you would go downstairs, and probably pack your book bag or backpack with your books that you are going to take back to school. And if you are in junior high or high school, you will pack your gym bag. Grade school students don’t have to do these, older students do have to have gym clothes. That’s T-shirt, shorts, exercise shoes and socks, and the reason they make you take the bag with that in it is because you are going to sweat. After gym class, you are going to take a shower. They don’t want you wearing  sweaty clothes back to class because you may smell a little bad.

第130集 吃早餐 (Eating Breakfast)

Breakfast in America. Breakfast in America is a lot different than breakfast here. Here, if you go to the breakfast stands, you can get a 漢堡, a hamburger. That would not be a normal breakfast in the US. Bacon and egg sandwich, that would be normal. Sausage and egg sandwich, normal. Hot dog sandwich in the US, not normal. But eggs are always normal. Pancakes, French toast, waffles are normal American breakfast. Most American students like to eat dry cereal. Cereal that comes in a box, you put in the bowl, put milk and sugar on it. My boys loved it when they were little. I don’t like the stuff. But, most dry cereal is very popular in the US. So, a lot of children eat it and it’s very easy to get ready. What would they drink? Most students would have... if they have cereal, they don’t need a glass of milk. If they have something else, they would get a glass of milk for breakfast, and usually a glass of some kind of juice, usually orange juice or grape juice or tomato juice. One of those three. Now, breakfast here is anything you can think of. Students here eat breakfast on the way to school. Again, most Americans, eat breakfast at home because there aren’t breakfast stands on the way to school.
